Gamblingpro.pro has a unique way to determine the review score of each casino. We do this on the basis of objective indicators.
Gamblingpro.pro's approach is unique in the world of British casino review sites. You often see that an online casino receives a (usually high) score, without it being exactly clear what this is based on. Gamblingpro.pro does this differently. Every online casino is measured against the same yardstick. We will explain to you on this page what that measuring stick looks like.
The Gamblingpro.pro system is not infallible. The weightings we have placed on the various factors remain subjective. For one player, a bonus is more important than for another player, for example. The review score is therefore based on data, but a subjective element remains hidden because the weighting and interpretation of the factors comes from the people behind Gamblingpro.pro.
Gamblingpro.pro has years of experience with online casinos, even before the regulation in the UK made legal online casinos possible. We do our best to review every casino as best as possible and provide it with a score.
How Is the Total Score Calculated?
Five factors count to calculate the total score of an online casino:
- Bonus (counts for 8 percent)
- Game offering (counts for 23 percent)
- Reliability (counts for 23 percent)
- Payment and disbursement (counts for 23 percent)
- Player friendliness (counts for 23 percent)
Below we explain how exactly each factor is calculated.
Casino Bonuses
The bonus only counts for 8 percent. Bonuses count less heavily than other factors, because many casinos only give a one-time bonus or a one-time high welcome bonus. You can also refuse a bonus if you do not like the conditions. We therefore do not think it is fair to give the bonus factor as much weight as the other factors. After all, you have to deal with these other factors every time you play, but not with the bonus.
Conditions generally apply to the welcome bonus from a casino or bookmaker. One of the conditions that is standard in the bonus conditions is the minimum deposit required to receive a bonus.
This says something about the attractiveness of a bonus. After all, a bonus that you receive for a deposit of €10 is more attractive than a bonus that you only receive if you deposit €50 or more.
The bonus percentage also says something about the attractiveness of a bonus. Casinos usually give away a bonus based on the amount of your deposit.
A casino bonus is nice, but what good is it if you have to deal with tough wagering conditions? The wagering requirements, also called ‘wagering requirements', are the number of times you have to wager the bonus money before you can cash out the bonus money and the winnings you make with it. The following applies: the more often you have to wager a bonus, the greater the chance that you will lose your bonus (and your winnings) while wagering.
For example: for a bonus of 100% up to € 100, a wagering requirement of 30 times the bonus money applies. You deposit € 100 and receive a bonus of € 100. You then have to wager a total of € 3,000 (30 times € 100 = ) € 3,000 before you can have the bonus money and the winnings you make with your bonus money paid out.
Some online casinos have a wagering requirement that applies to the bonus and your deposit.
For example: for a bonus of 100% up to € 100, a wagering requirement of 25 times your deposit and the bonus applies. The total of your deposit and bonus is ( € 100 + € 100 = ) € 200. This means you have to wager 25 times, which amounts to a total of ( 25 times € 200 = ) € 5,000. That is (€5,000 / €100 =) 50 times the bonus money. We count this as a wagering requirement of 50 times.
Game Offering
The range of games counts for 23 percent. After all, every time you play, you have to deal with the game selection. The greater the casino's range of games, the better it is for the player. Of course, we not only look at the number of casino games, but also at the quality.
Sites that offer almost only bingo (e.g. tombola ), almost only poker (e.g. GGPoker ), or almost only sports betting (e.g. LiveScore Bet ) are rated based on their key game offerings, bingo , poker , and sports betting , respectively .
The casino receives half a point per ‘premium game provider ‘. The maximum number of points is 10. This is achieved if a casino has slots from 20 different ‘premium game providers'. We determine whether a game provider is ‘premium' based on how popular a game provider is, looking not only at the British market, but also at online casinos in the rest of the world.
These are the premium game providers:
- Amusnet (EGT)
- Big Time Gaming
- Blueprint Gaming
- ELK Studios
- Gamomat
- Hacksaw Gaming
- IGT
- iSoftBet
- Merkur
- Games Global (MicroGaming)
- NetEnt
- Nolimit City
- Novomatic
- Play'n GO
- Playtech
- Pragmatic Play
- Push Gaming
- Quickspin
- Red Tiger
- Relax Gaming
- Light & Wonder (Scientific Games)
- Stakelogic
- Thunderkick
- Yggdrasil
Smaller game providers that release slots through the label of a larger game provider are included in this larger game provider. Such as Reel Kingdom at Pragmatic Play, Hurricane Games at Stakelogic, Ash Gaming at Playtech, and Just for the Win at Games Global.
Reliability
Bonuses and game offerings are all well and good. The most important part of a casino review is its reliability. A nice bonus and an extensive range of games are of no use if a casino is unreliable. Reliability counts for 23 percent.
For British players, the license from the British UKGC is the most reliable. Advantages include the strict requirements regarding responsible gaming, the inspection of casino games offered, and the fact that British law applies.
At Gamblingpro.pro we do not promote casinos without a license from the UKGC. We do not enter into any agreements with it, do not refer to it, and absolutely do not recommend playing with it. But we do have pages about online casinos without a KSA license on Gamblingpro.pro with information. If someone reads our page from an illegal online casino, we refer to a legal online casino.
Although the online casinos that we promote on Gamblingpro.pro all have a license in the UK (and therefore score a 10 anyway), there are also other options in this section. These casinos without a British license therefore score lower by definition.
The British permit also counts as “outside the European Union”. Since Brexit, the United Kingdom is no longer part of the European Union. The British license only applies to residents of the United Kingdom. Don't live in the United Kingdom? Then it is of no use to you.
We also look at who the owner is. The location plays a role, but also whether the owners are known at all.
Listed companies receive a higher score than non-listed companies. Listed companies by definition have pressure from their shareholders who should steer them towards responsible decisions that result in a reliable online casino. In addition, these companies submit quarterly and annual figures, making data public. Gamblingpro.pro can draw conclusions about reliability from this data.
Separated Credits
Separated player credits are an underexposed point, but very important. The bottom line is that the casino legally sets the money in the player account separately from regular company funds.
Does a casino not do that and does the casino go bankrupt? Then the creditors can also use the player's funds. There is a good chance that you will see nothing or not much of your account balance. The owners of an online casino can also much more easily tap into player funds for other things if those accounts are not separated.
The idea can be compared to that of a third-party account of a notary office. In the UK, the UKGC requires that player funds are separated from other funds at an online casino. Online casinos with a license therefore by definition have a 1.0 score here.
Are the player funds in a separate account, but is this account in the name of the casino? Then this counts as ‘no'. In practice, creditors can also claim the funds in this separate account, so it is not of much use to you as a player.
Payment Methods
Another important aspect is the payments and payouts. Of course you want to be able to deposit money safely into your casino account. And do you win something? Then you want to get this money paid out quickly. This part counts for 23 percent.
We look at the payment methods available. We ranked payment methods based on security, ease of use, and how popular they are in the UK.
The lower the minimum deposit, the more user-friendly this is. Also in the context of ‘ responsible gaming ‘ it is good if a casino has a low minimum deposit.
This concerns the minimum deposit that you can make at a casino. This is separate from the minimum deposit required to qualify for the bonus.
Payout Limit
If you win, you want to receive your prize money as quickly as possible. And in one go. Withdrawal limits are very player unfriendly.
For example: you win €60,000 and the casino has a payout limit of €6,000 per month. You then have to wait 10 months until you receive the full prize amount. That is player unfriendly.
Payout speed
If you win, you want to receive your prize money quickly. In addition to any payout limits, payout speed is also a factor. Some casinos pay out faster than others. The faster the prize money is in your bank account, the more player-friendly it is.
We assess the speed of payout based on our own experiences, the experiences of our visitors, and the statement of the casino itself.
Some casinos charge an administration fee for withdrawals. In our opinion, this is unjustified. Casinos have a house edge on all games they offer. From their house advantage, they have to bear all costs, including costs associated with transferring money. Also read: Advertise With Us.
